Dr Hazem Akil MD, FRACS Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon
Dr Hazem Akil is an experienced and highly qualified Australian-trained neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon. Dr Akil has travelled the world, receiving training and expertise in some of the best neurosurgical centres, and deriving experience in a diverse range of areas in brain and spinal surgery. He underwent his postgraduate surgical training in the United Kingdom (Edinburgh, London) and was granted a full membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. Dr Akil then moved to Australia to further pursue surgical specialty training, and he was successful in gaining entry into the highly competitive Royal Australasian College of Surgeons neurosurgical training program. Dr Akil visits Mildura on a monthly basis.
Dr Shankar Ramaswamy MBBS MD FFPMANZCA FRCA FFPMRCA EDRA Cer Cli Res Pain Specialist and Anesthetist
Dr Shankar Ramaswamy is a highly trained Pain Specialist and Anaesthetist. He was a five-star rated UK based specialist with substantive appointments at St Bartholomew’s and Royal London Hospital (public sector) as well as at leading private hospitals in the prestigious Harley Street and London Bridge areas in Central London and East London. He has also held leadership and academic appointments in Pain Management and Anaesthesia with active involvement in research, undergraduate and postgraduate education. He has numerous publications to his credit including original research articles, review articles and chapters in prominent textbooks. He has also delivered several national and international lectures. He holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship with the University of Edinburgh and is the course director for their MSc Pain Management program. Dr Shankar visits Mildura every eight weeks.
BARIATRIC & GENERAL SURGEON
Mr Adam Boyt is a specialist in bariatric and general surgery with an emphasis on minimally invasive/laparoscopic techniques. He also performs a wide range of general surgery including complex hernia repairs.
Following the completion of a science degree (UWA Hons) in biochemistry and neurophysiology, he completed his PhD in molecular neurobiology concurrently with his medical training at the University of Melbourne. He then undertook general surgery training before completing his Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery at St John of God, Mt Lawley. Dr Adam visits Mildura on a monthly basis.
Dr Wai Keong Ng MBBS (NSW), MRCP (UK), FRACP Neurologist
Dr Ng Wai Keong is a distinguished Neurologist with three decades of experience in the medical field. He specialises in a variety of procedures including Botox injections for dystonia, headache and migraine pain relief, thrombolytic therapy, transcranial doppler (TCD) and stroke management.
Dr Ng offers Nerve Conduction Studies/Electromyography. Dr Wai visits Mildura every eight weeks.
